ABOUT
Okrej – je to důvod (Okrej – That’s the Reason)
This is the authorial album of Monkey Business guitar player, Olda Krejčoves. The pop-rock album is full of starry guests, with Dan Bárta, Matěj Ruppert, Karolína Ruppert, Viktor Dyk (ex DOROTA BB) or Tonya Graves singing. Also the other guests guarantee extraordinary musical experience; percussions by Imran Musa Zangi, bass Jan Jakubec and René Pyszko, trombone by Martin Mach; other musicians featured are Emil Valach, Roman Vícha, Marek Žežulka and others. Thirteen compositions altogether, mostly with Czech lyrics, form an excellent example of intelligent and melodic rock.
The album entitled “OKREJ - je to důvod” (OKREJ - That’s the Reason) is the first solo work in the long row of albums (over twenty-five at present), in which Olda Krejčoves took part as a guitarist and co-author. “I always made demos and tried to spark a fire out of them. Mostly the bands with whom I played weren’t exactly happy with it. I always kind of felt I was a little bit off…” The result is a remarkably sharp album oscillating between rock and pop. The author is well known in Prague clubs as a guitar player. “The cult of the 1990s was the BUNKR Club for me; I used to hang out and play there a lot. I met plenty of musicians out there…” In the 1990s he played in bands like Kollerband, Pusa, Bára Basiková Band, Jesus Christ Superstar and others. Since 1999 he has been playing with Monkey Business as with his mother band. In spite of this, in recent years, he has been trying to find realization of those compositions of his, which do not suit the repertoire of his band. This is e.g. the STABILITY project (with M. Chyška, J. Jakubec, and R. Vícha) or the present OKREJ project, which he intends to support with live concerts.
