ABOUT

“There are no more songs from Zuzana. These two last things which can be found on the album „Dobře nám” were written by Zuzana directly for KOA and besides, we played them with her.“

KOA became known for its cooperation with the legend of Czech folk, Zuzana Navarová d. T. The album “Dobře nám“ has already been the second separate recording of KOA. The band adds reggae or funk on the new record and an electric guitar, not being used by the band so far, appears in several songs. Besides Czech, it is sung Spanish, French, Turkish, English, Romany, and Slovak on the CD.

This new album contains 17 songs, all KOA band players participate as authors. “Compositions have assembled this way and if we had timed the recording out, even over twenty could have been there. And this would be already too much. We think that the number of songs and the CD length are ideal both for us and for our audience.“ The biggest author’s participation belongs to Mário Bihári on this new album, say the half of compositions. On the album, the whole of KOA is represented authorially and moreover, 2 songs come from the pen of Zuzana Navarová d. T. Authors of songs largely sing their songs as well. The album makes a very coloured impression, although there is still an unmistakable style of the group, and in the Professional sound studio in the charge of Pavel Hejč, it was succeeded to maintain the sound which captures a present style of KOA.

Beginnings of the KOA group go back to 1998 when Zuzana Navarová together with Iván Gutiérrez, Columbia songster, extended the existing duo by the bassist František Rab, percussionist and drummer Camilo Caller and accordionist Mário Bihári. Then, the KOA band released these albums “Skleněná vrba“ and “Zelené album“, concert recordings from Prague club of Malostranská beseda. After leaving of Iván Gutiérezz in 2000, the sound of the band was enhanced by the guitarist Omar Kahouaj – “Barvy všecky“ and “Jako Šántidéví“. In 2006, the first album of KOA without Zuzana Navarová d. T. was released at the Indies Scope even if the album contains 4 compositions sung by Zuzana Navarová, being recorded on concerts.
