Ten year existence of the Stará pekárna club will be celebrated not only with series of concerts during October 2009 but also with already fourth album of the blues series mapping the TV music series called “Blues from Stará pekárna”. The program has introduced many bands in recent years; not only the local ones but also guests from abroad, mostly from Slovakia. This fact is also confirmed in this new selection where we can find three interprets from neighboring strong blues scene (Peter Lipa, Ján Litecký Šveda, Beňa & Ptaszek). Czech scene is this time a minority and is represented by Jakub Kořínek and Petra Börnerová & Band in the compilation.

The TV series called “Blues from Stará pekárna“ has been going out on Czech TV since the year 2002 and more than thirty episodes has been recorded since then. The program was created in cooperation with Indies Studio which has also prepared this compilation of live records.

Stará pekárna in numbersWhen in September 1999 Stará pekárna was slowly becoming a music café in underground space of a Brno house in 8 Štefánikova street its founders were all united by an idea to find a space where pure non commercial genres would meet; a space devoted to music with a soul and to interprets who appear in music play lists of most popular stations by accident. During those ten years the walls of Stará pekárna were impregnated with positive energy of 2010 live performances introducing 884 bands in total. Genius loci of this comfortable club has been created most often by these bands (in order of the number of performances): Ty Syčáci, Real Eyes, Dura & Blues Groove, Hoochie Choocie Band, Drive, B.N.8, Kulturní úderka, La Patchanka, Mushy Muxx, Stan The Man, Dítě and Swordfishtrombones.
When we add up 32 theatre productions, 10 audiovisual programs, 47 art openings, 9 carnivals and 4 author readings it’s obvious that the intention of club’s founders was completely fulfilled.
There is another not that irrelevant number to mention related to Stará pekárna club - 694 874 of beers consumed there (updated 30.9.2009).
