ABOUT
Ivo Cicvárek, Žofie Kabelková, Marcel Kříž – Panoptikum (Collection of curios)
A remarkable record of three strong personalities of the young songster generation represents a fifteen-song expressive collection of stories, unusual characters, tempers and points. Musically progressive composition oscillates among rock, folk and blues, they play with the colors of acoustic and electro acoustic instruments. The authors do not avoid experimenting with sample sounds. The overall result is still straightforward, emotional, passionate and provocative. The Panoptikum (Collection of curios) makes an original appearance in the development of the Czech protest songs. The questions the album puts to the listeners are not easy – and the record is not offering any easy or comforting answers. Walk in the peculiar world of “lost” characters of Marcel Kříž, doubts and victories of Ivo Cicvárek, sorrows and hopes of Žofie Kabelková. Walk in the world of full-blooded music in which the following excellent interprets participated: Luboš Pavlík (percussion), Petr Pospíšil (contrabass), Antonín Mühlhansl (saxophones), Petra Klementová (flutes), Hubert Ratschker (trumpet), Ladislav Prokeš (samples), Petr Šmiřák (tuba), Jan Žamboch (guitar) a Jana Havlová (violoncello).
