ABOUT
Beata Bocek is a songwriter, singer and composer who has recorded thirteen-song album called “Ja tutaj Mieszkam“. The new album by the songstress Beata Bocek uses assonance of the Polish language in which most of the songs are written. Her songs are full of strong melodies and tangled emotions and in her lyrics you can find the spiritual, mental and natural theme. In most songs sounds the Polish language which Beata sings naturally, but also Czech and French.
She is naturally beautiful in her voice, speech, in a harmonious approach. So can Beata Bocek be characterized? “Music is my own way towards freedom, which conceals diligence, perseverance, rest,“ says about her music Beata Bocek and adds about her work: “my music which is hard to specify; with a guitar I am a folk singer, the accordion brings me back to Těšín, with the shepherds flute I feel like woman of the mountains, mbira makes me a shaman and ukulele brings lightness and memories of travelling..“ But if we really try to typecast her music, the songs are the closest to the world folk.
Although Beata creates inventive melodies and unusual lyrics, the most characteristic trait has always been her expression. She herself talks about it as of some kind of enchantment of the listeners. “The most important thing is what people emanate. Then it doesn’t really matter what is the song about.“ Beata has lately emanated mainly tranquility and, paradoxically, even the silence. Her last album is intimate, pensive; arranges are surprisingly minimalist although she cooperates with the violist and violinist Tereza Včelicová and double-bassist Filip Kramer. On this record is obvious, more than elsewhere, that Beata likes to be surrounded by musicians, but she prefers playing “herself, from beginning to end.“
