ABOUT

The re-edition of, we may say, cult albums “V otrhaném domě“ (In a Ragged House) and “Ve dne v noci“ (Day and Night) of Prouza band from Frýdek-Místek, is being published in the digital remastering on one CD and notifies of the return of Prouza with a new album to be published at the end of October 2007. Both albums occupy an important position on the Czech guitar scene of the 1990’s and when you are listening to them, you realize how unique and timeless a band Prouza was. The first concert of the band took place in Ostrava on 17 November 1989. At that time, most members of the band had performed in Brumerova Prouza. The new Prouza gained a large base of audiences thanks to active performing.

At a time, the band was called “Hrobníci” (Gravediggers), because several members of the band worked at a graveyard. After several years of activity they recorded the album entitled “V otrhaném domě” in 1990, which is accompanied a successful clip “Na venku”, whose author is the film director David Ondříček. This album is markedly affected by the state of recoding studios at the beginning of the 1990’s. “It was the time of experimenting and no one exactly knew how to do it, and that is why the result is as it is. Our first album was a victim of this situation,” the Prouza musicians recall their stay in the studio. However, the album became the launch pad for the ever growing popularity of the band. It set off to Czech clubs all over the country; it organized a tour together with the Priessnitz band of Jeseník, with whom it created a unique club tandem, which brought astonishment of critics and made crowds of fans dancing.

In 1992, Prouza locked themselves in a studio again and recorded a timeless album “Ve dne v noci” (again accompanied with further video clips of David Ondříček “Krok před tebou” and “Ve dne v noci”), which scored both with critics and audiences. Prouza was on top. Unfortunately, disputes between members of the band arose and led to the dissolution of the band in 1994. No further album could be recorded at that time, but is being prepared now. “A demo version with four songs was created then, but growing arguments and disputes led to the disintegration of Prouza. There is no point in analyzing the situation now. The third album needed fourteen years of ageing. It lasted seven years before Prouza got together again and another seven years to finish the album.” The band returned to concert stages in a modified lineup and its fans have been able to see it on festival stages since summer 2002.
