ABOUT

When the spring landscape zooms past your eyes behind the windows of a train, anything can come into your mind. Why not a title song to a new album? That’s exactly what happened to Amálka K. Třebická, composer, songwriter, pianist and interpreter. In the new record called “Za okny rychlíku“ we can find personal testimony in the form of fourteen songs on the edge of chanson, jazz and avant-garde. After the album for children called "Nešišlej!", full of hilarious, crazy and sometimes even a bit morbit lyrics with logopedic subtext, Amálka K. Třebická presents herself in a completely different, more intimate level.

Although the title song actually originated in a dining car, it’s rather a symbolic expression of looking at life and experiences within us, the world surrounding us and people’s fates passing us by. In the lyrics that have been originating for several years we can see the self-ironic detachment, but also the hopeless feelings of normalization childhood or the impotence of old age in senior people’s home. The album is very personal, as Amálka K. Třebická confirms: “The lyrics are a testimony of my reality – of my experienced vision of the world. The only intention was to capture this as precisely as possible.“

Just like the lyrics, the music very personal as well; it is a reflection of musical perception of Amálka’s world. “Everything what I do is a matter of hearts. I grew up listening to jazz and chanson, that’s why I kind of tend in that direction, although I studied the classical composition.”

The album "Za okny rychlíku" was recorded in Střelice recording studio, part of it in Brno Studio Indies.  The resulting sound of the album is the personal and musical teamwork of Amálka and her drummer and co-author of arrangements Vladimír Třebický, whose voice can be heard in several songs on the recording and they acquire new dimension. Most in the final duet called Pavel (30.6.1987 - 15.9.2013). It is dedicated to Amálka’s sister Johana whose partner tragically died in front of her eyes. Johana plays the cello part here.

The atmosphere of the album is complemented by photographs by Simona Amiridu and a booklet written by authors.
