Czech version of Breton rock. Souped-up, pulsing and at the same time melodic music combines elements of solid rock and Celtic music. After the autumn big success of the single of the band Dick O’ Brass their official first work is released with the name Disk O’ Brass. There are traditional and author’s songs on the record. “All members have experience with Celtic music”, says Tomáš Nedělka and adds, "some pieces are traditionals, we draw inspiration for our own works mainly from Breton and Irish folk music. Great help for part of us was performing with the band ZOO that headed in this direction already from the end of the eightieth." In spite of that all pieces have unmistakable sound of Dick O’Brass. The use of in our country not very often used instrument – Scottish bagpipes contributes to this unmistakable sound. “A fusion of traditional instruments – in this case Scottish bagpipes – with modern sound is nothing new in the world. Our music thus opens up for much wider audience and especially for young people. We would get nowhere with young people, if we used classical instruments and arrangements”, thinks Scottish bagpipes player Tomáš Nedělka. “Besides, in Bohemia and Moravia only a few bands use similar symbiosis. Bagpipes and rock? If you proceed sensitively at arranging of songs and if you keep certain rules based on traditional music, the response of the audience is great.”
From the CD you can also hear that the musicians are experienced players and the experience of Tomáš Nedělka gained during performing in the concerts in Brittany, wildness of the guitar of Radim Kadlčák and elaborated arrangements of Jirka Matoušek, Pepa Kůstka and Aleš Zimolka. Sean Barry brought a little bit of Ireland in the record with his Irish harp.
