Dvanáctisměna

The Album Dvánáctisměna As A Tribute To The Legendary Czechoslovak Film Ball Lightning. Cult quotes from the Czechoslovak film, Ball Lightning (orig. Kulový blesk, 1978) come to life in unexpected contexts under the baton of the band Radosta, which releases a record called Dvanáctisměna (i.e. The Twelveshift).

Ing. Severin, Opera Master Bílek, Jechová are not only legendary characters from the author's workshop of Zdeněk Svěrák and Ladislav Smoljak, but, freshly, also the names of the songs of the band Radosta from their debut album Dvanáctisměna. On their debut, the Pilsen band dedicates each of their songs to one of the characters of the cult comedy Ball Lightning. Individual songs also contain the original quotes of the mentioned characters.

"We provided most of the songs with our own lyrics, although a few of them are based purely on excerpts from the film. It had a lot to do with how we perceived the personality of the given character musically. We were working on the project for four years. We are really happy that the author and the heirs of the rights of the original film liked the concept and the result and allowed us to realize the project," says the band frontman, guitarist and singer Jan J. Šimon.

A music video  was also created for the single Máňa, featuring Daniela Kolářová, who played Mrs. Knotková in the original comedy. It was also the very first music video that she shot in her rich acting career.

"The message of the song Máňa is time. The time that passes, and sometimes doesn’t measure the same for everyone. Through the portal dobratecka.cz, every follower can support a hospice in their area. We, as a band, have decided to support the St. Lazarus Hospice in Pilsen," the saxophonist Klára Brazilská explains the circumstances and the unconventional message of the music video.

The album Dvanáctisměna is not just a one-off studio project. The band Radosta is already waiting for several concerts within this year's festival season.

"I already knew during the composing period that I wanted Radosta to function as a stage band. I also adapted the songwriting process to this. Our next big performance will be at Rock for People in Hradec Králové, CR,” concludes J. J. Šimon
