Brno's guitar legend Helmutova Stříkačka is releasing its first live album on the 40th anniversary of its founding. The concert was filmed at Kabinet Múz in Brno, CR and also made into a program for CT Art (Czech Art Television program).
Helmutova Stříkačka has rejuvenated its line-up in recent years and the concerts are full of energy and fans. This made the recording of a live album for the band's fortieth anniversary a straightforward proposition. After a number of preparations, a special concert took place at the Kabinet Múz in Brno, CR. The founding member, band leader and singer Robert Staniczek describes how it happened: "My friend and film director Pavel Jandourek from ČT (i.e. Czech Television) came up with the idea to film a live show, and at that time we met Martin Kozumplík from Indies Scope at Kabinet Múz and we agreed to release an album too. The recording does not contain any new songs. On the contrary, the album teems with hits such as Helmut v léčebně, Helmut se nudí, Helmut v ZOO, Ovoce a zelenina… "
Helmutova Stříkačka played a sold-out show with the playlist you might have heard at the 2023 summer concerts. "The songs have a new coat, which die-hard listeners can compare to the original recordings," says Robert Staniczek.
Vinyl will offer not only music but also a special treat through its cover. As founding member Robert Staniczek says: "We wanted the cover to remind us of the fun moments that started it all. The front side refers to the current line-up, the back one to the old songs and the time when they were written. The inside will take you through the 40 years of the band's existence, remind you of some of the musicians who have passed through the band, offer the first poster and complete everything with lyrics and chords."
The launch of the LP will take place on 1st June in their home town of Brno, CR, at Pivovar Harry. The godfathers will be friends, also local, Gustavo Rojo, and the band One Hit Wanda will arrive from Germany. The evening will be conducted and the godfather will also be an old friend, the actor Radim Fiala.
Seven consecutive sold-out concerts on home soil in a row prove that the band still has a lot to offer and appeals to a young audience.
A filmed concert programme will premiere on CT Art on May 17, 2024 in the prime time at 8:15 p.m.
